Diverse program and extensive cooperation
We have to highlight these two things as a key to success regarding the international conference and matchmaking event "Open4Business 2017" organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pécs-Baranya and the Enterprise Europe Network Pécs.
The PTE Hungarian Diaspore Project Network established in April 2017 and supported by the 650th anniversary project of the foundation of the University of Pécs, was pleased to join the organizers of “Open4Business” this year in order to foster the synergic economic development of Hungarian companies wishing to build their business relationships internationally.
In addition to the international B2B meeting, plenary sessions, Connect IT - the Information Management Innovation Cluster’s annual conference, Danube Region Strategy Program’s workshops, Design Pécs Week’s events, Business Development Platforms of the border offices of the Hungarian National Trade House and the University of Pécs, company visits and networking events were including in the program.
Beside diplomats and twin city delegates from bordering countries and EU member states, representatives of enterprises and clusters are welcome from the engineering, environmental, agrofood and ICT and creative industry. Thanks to the successes of a joint project, we welcomed the representatives of the city council of Lahti our twin city, and the heads of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Häme County, as a part of a Finnish entrepreneurial delegation.
The results of the event surpassed all of our expectations:
Representing 14 countries, 275 guests attended the 3-day event program. Larger (14-18 companies / countries) foreign entrepreneurial groups came from Croatia, Finland, Romania and Germany.
144 registered companies had nearly 350 meetings. Counting the informal meetings the total number of bilateral talks is over 400. This means that a company/entrepreneur had 4 meetings on average but the routine ones were able to exploit the opportunity and use the maximum number of meeting slots resulting 16 business meeting here in Pécs with foreign companies’ representatives.
Two company visits took place on the last day of the Open4Business Matchmaking Event 2017. The interested companies were either „guests” of the Szentágothai Research Centre which covers all aspects of education, research and innovation at the fields of biomedical, natural and environmental sciences or the Organ Manufacturing Company dealing with the manufacturing and renovation of organs worldwide.
According to the first feedbacks the participants were very satisfied with the professional organization of the event and reported about useful and effective business meetings. Contrary to many years of experience, this year there was no need to wait to hear about successful business deals. The received 40% feedback from the participants within 5 days after the event indicate 99 possible and 16 already agreed cooperation.
The organizers hereby thank all the partners who supported and contributed in the organization and implementation since April 2017.
